City council seeks heritage designation for Etobicoke cenotaph:Memorial could move from shuttered Legion site to Col. Sam Smith Park

Toronto Council recently endorsed a motion by Ward 3 Etobicoke-Lakeshore Councillor Mark Grimes to request the city's heritage preservation services take immediate action to add the former Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3 property to the city's heritage register to protect its solid granite cenotaph.

The city is working to recognize the heritage value of the 7.5-metre, solid granite cenotaph that has stood since the early 1980s out in front of the now-shuttered Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3 on Eighth Street.
