The city is opening six new shelters as part of its 2019-2020 winter services plan, including a temporary response site for refugees/asylum claimants at 5800 Yonge St. in North York.

The city has leased 5800 Yonge St. to provide 200 beds to single, adult refugee and asylum claimants this upcoming winter.
