Liz Valladares-Periera (left), Patricia Glouden and Maureen Simpson-van Noord are volunteers behind the EDGE Program, a Scarborough-based self-improvement course for Black youth which culminates each year in a formal-dress cotillion ball.

The EDGE ends in a formal dress ball, with black youth walking proudly in as beaux and debutantes in tuxedos and gowns.
