ONTARIO COLD CASE: Family still searching for closure 31 years later:Mother of three found on banks of Grand River; her killer is still at large

 Melanie Hunter (right) and her cousin Stacey Kirk look at the headstone of Melanie's mother Leianne, who was murdered in 1987. Her father Russell came to trial in 1997 for the murder, but he was found not guilty when new evidence couldn't be linked to him. The case remains open.

Aside from the miserable rain, Sept. 19, 1987 should have been a regular day for the Hunter family.
