Kabil Abdulkhadir, 27, who grew up in Etobicoke, was gunned down Aug. 9, 2015.

It was a warm summer Sunday morning in 2015 when Kabil Abdulkhadir pulled up to a popular downtown Toronto hotel. The 27-year-old stepped out of the vehicle, popped the trunk and walked over to the trunk where he was gunned down. Nearly three years later, a jury convicted Mohamud Abdiwal Dirie, 27, of first-degree murder while Ayub Hirsi Ali, 22, was found guilty of manslaughter due to his role as driver.
